Accomodation
| Bett & Bike |
The ultimate source for accomodation for bicyclists touring Germany |
| Hotel Zum Hechten [Füssen/Ostallgäu] |
My advice in Fuessen: the hotel where the landlord is an avid bicyclist himself and thus THE source of a wealth of information. I enjoyed the warm hospitality and the good food there ever so much. And what is more: the hotel is conveniently located in the centre of Fuessen in the pedestrian area. |
| Hotel Hirsch [Kalterherberg/Eifel] |
A great hotel to explore the Eifel, the Rursee and the Hohes Venn: the owners are friendly and helpful, the food is great, and the rooms are comfortable. |

Fitness
| Laufcampus |
My personal recommendation for checking your fitness and developing your training. Without having myself checked out there on a stationary bike - running on a treadmill is also an option - and having my heart rate and lactic acid level measured, leading to a recommendation for training units, I'd never have improved my fitness that fast. And still I use the recommendations for heart rate levels given to me by Andreas Butz as a guideline on all my bike rides - with much success. |

Among others, bikeradar has a forum with various categories for bicyclists. |
Navigation - GPS & Maps
| GPSies |
One of the - to my mind - most valuable portals for bikers is GPSies: Tracks for Vagabonds. [A click here takes you to the tracks uploaded there by myself.] This website not only has by now more than 8 million! kilometers of tracks for bicycling alone from all over the world, but it also offers numerous other valuable features like, e.g., converting tracks between different formats for the different GPS-devices. The tracks come with a description [details vary as to what the author respective puts in], a profile of the ascent and descent, the possibility to view them in different formats [such as Google Maps, Google Earth etc.] and also to download [even directly to a GPS-device or mobile phone] and print the maps and descriptions of the tracks. |
| bikemap |
Another site to up- and download GPS-tracks - not as much information about the tracks as on GPSies.com. It does include a training-log, though. |
| bikeradar |
Not only GPS-tracks, but also a comprehensive site as top bicycling, including a forum. |

| mapmyride |
Another site to up- and download GPS-tracks - not as much information about the tracks as on GPSies.com. Unfortunately, it has a lot of ads and - in its premium version - is not free. They even charge you for a print-out of the tracks you yourself uploaded. What I like about this site is that you can get a detailed cue sheet. And that you can very easily draw your own maps. After completion, the site gives you the elevation profile of the ride, too. But whereas the general profile seems to be fairly adequate, the rates of ascent and descent are NOT. |
| HCBTC |
Good maps, free to download [pdf-format mostly] and print, of the San Antonio area, provided by the Hill Country Bicycle Touring Club. |
| bicyclemaps |
As it's stated in the introduction, one of the largest collection of bicycle maps on the internet; pdf-format for free downloads and print-outs; the collection has Missouri [Katy Trail], New Mexico and - tons of - Texas maps. This is a truly remarkable source of maps. |
