As I've turned to biking a lot again lately [in 2007, to be exact], I'd like to share my experiences on these pages.

The Beginnings

It was a simple wireless bike computer [Sigma] and a wrist-watch-cum-pulsemeter I started with.

The Garmin Edge 305

In January 2007 I decided to get myself this device [Garmin Edge 305 with heart rate monitor and cadence sensor] instead of the combination of a bike computer and a pulse meter and I'm decidedly happy about it as it helps me a lot to determine the right amount of training, especially after a (repeated) fitness test at laufcampus.de, where, after a check-out on a stationary bike with heart-rate and lactic acid being measured and recorded, I got a professional's advice as how to organize my training units.

But even before that I really enjoyed keeping track of my bike rides both as regards the routes and the physical demands.

The Garmin GPSmap 76CSx

Later in 2007 I decided to get myself this GPS based navigation computer and it has helped me a lot on both planning and recording my tracks. Well, of course its main purpose was and is planning. And ever since I started to use it I've no longer needed printed maps.
